Riq Woolen, former UTSA defensive back and current NFL player for the Seattle Seahawks found his first interception of the season on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. The interception was one of three costly turnovers by Cleveland that ultimately helped Seattle seal the close victory 24-20.
This first interception of the season comes as a surprise to most, as Woolen co-lead the NFL in interceptions last season with six in his rookie season. He was also the only rookie in the past ten seasons to record an interception in four consecutive games in 2022.
Woolen, Earned honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition in the secondary as a Redshirt Senior in 2021 for the Roadrunners. In 2022, he was drafted in the 5th round of the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He was named to the NFL Pro Bowl in 2022 and was the runner-up for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
